🌟 Student Voices. Student Perspectives. Student Leadership. 🌟

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council recently gathered at the Bedford County Schools Central Office to kick off another year of #student #leadership, conversation and collaboration! 💬✨

With both returning and new members joining the council, #students had the opportunity to get to know one another through an icebreaker question: “If you could instantly become really good at one thing, anything at all, school-related or not, what would you choose and why?” Their answers sparked some fun conversations and gave students a chance to learn more about the peers they’ll be working alongside throughout the year.

Students also met with Superintendent Tim Harwell, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Sandy Sorrells, Assistant Superintendent of Operations Neil Watson and Director of Communications Carol Garrette. They then toured the Central Office to learn more about the different departments and how each one supports BCS schools and students.

Throughout the school year, these student leaders will have opportunities to share their perspectives, provide input on district matters and help ensure that student voices are part of the conversation. 🗣️⭐

We’re looking forward to hearing what this group has to say and seeing the impact their voices will have throughout the year!

Good afternoon, parents and guardians, we're looking forward to celebrating Homecoming this Friday, October 9th! Please review the following important details:
Parade & Pep Rally Permission Slips All permission slips for the parade and pep rally were distributed to students and must be turned into their Homeroom Teacher by Wednesday, October 7th. All students must return a form, even if they do not plan to attend. If opting out, no parent/guardian signature is required. Students who do not turn in a form will automatically be added to the "I'm not going" list.

Pep Rally Attendance: Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the pep rally at The Stable (football field) from 8:45-10:10 AM. For student safety, please park in the football field house lot adjacent to the softball field and enter through the pass gate, then proceed to the visitor side bleachers for viewing. A map is attached to this message.

Transportation and Checkouts: All students will be transported back to school after the parade and pep rally the same way they arrived. No checkouts will be allowed between 8:15 and 12:00, except for emergencies. In an emergency, please check your student out at the school office and bring the checkout note to the football field concession stand for pickup. There will be no phone or email checkouts that day. Students who plan to check out after the pep rally must bring a written note to their first-period teacher Friday morning. No students may drive to the football field. Students who normally arrive late should plan to be at school by 8:00 AM to participate. We're excited to celebrate a great Homecoming with our students and community! Go Champions!

📚 Research Skills in Action! 📚

Mr. Simmons's 5th period World History class spent a day in the library learning an essential academic skill—how to create an MLA Works Cited page!

Students listened to Mrs. Thomas explain the purpose behind proper citation formatting before working together as a class to format the document and type in entries. This preparation will help them with their upcoming debate in World History.

Thank you, Mrs. Thomas, for teaching our students these important research and writing skills! 🧡🖤

🧡 National Bullying Prevention Month 🧡

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and at Cascade High School, we stand together against bullying.

Say NO to bullying.
Stand and speak up.

Bullying has no place in our school or our community. Whether you see it happening to someone else or experience it yourself, we encourage you to speak up, reach out, and support one another.

Together, we can create a culture of kindness, respect, and inclusion. Let's be Champions for each other! 🖤🧡

If you or someone you know is being bullied, talk to a trusted adult, counselor, or administrator. You are not alone.
