Cascade High School senior Kaegan Young has been named a 2A Miss Basketball Finalist for the 2025–2026 season, adding another milestone to an already remarkable career with the Lady Champions basketball program.
A four-year starter, Young has been a cornerstone of the Lady Champions’ success, known for her consistency, competitiveness, and leadership on and off the court. This season, she is averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, numbers that reflect her ability to impact every aspect of the game.
Young is already a member of the 1,000-point club for the Lady Champions and is closing in on the school’s all-time leading scorer record of 1,495 points, placing her among the most accomplished players in program history. Her scoring ability, combined with her defensive intensity and court vision, has made her one of the most respected players in Class 2A.
In addition to her Miss Basketball recognition, Young was selected as a BCAT All-Star this year and was voted Most Athletic by her senior class—honors that speak to both her talent and the respect she has earned from coaches, teammates, and peers.
Head coach Janie Demonbreum praised Young’s influence on the program, highlighting her leadership and resilience throughout her career. “Kaegan has been the heartbeat of our program for four years. She leads with confidence, faces adversity with a positive mindset, and sets the standard for work ethic and competitiveness. She makes everyone around her better,” Demonbreum said.
Young has also announced her commitment to continue her basketball career at UT Southern in Pulaski, Tennessee, where she will bring her experience, versatility, and winning mentality to the collegiate level.
The Miss Basketball winners will be announced on March 17 at MTSU’s Tucker Theater, and regardless of the outcome, Young’s legacy at Cascade High School is already firmly established. Her impact on the Lady Champions program will be felt for years to come, serving as a model of excellence for future generations
