🏫💬 Another Town Hall, Another Opportunity to Listen & Look Ahead💬 🏫

Recently, families and community members gathered at #CascadeHighSchool for another Town Hall with Superintendent Tim Harwell. The evening provided an opportunity to hear more about his vision for #BedfordCountySchools and to ask questions about the experiences and opportunities available to students.

📚 Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including early identification and support for dyslexia, intervention services, high school supports, student transportation and bus schedules, school safety, CTE opportunities and leadership continuity.

Community members also shared questions and ideas surrounding technology, school partnerships and additional opportunities that could support students.

These conversations are an important part of looking at what is working, identifying opportunities for growth and continuing to put the needs of #students and families at the forefront.

🗣️ There is one more opportunity to meet with the superintendent and be part of the conversation! Join us:

Veterinary Science students at Cascade High School have been working on veterinary medical math, with a focus on converting weight measurements.
On Thursday, Aug 13th, they put those skills to use in a little different way! Students were given the task of making ¼-pound hamburgers and had to calculate the correct amount of meat using pounds, ounces, grams, and kilograms.
After doing the math, they weighed out their meat to see if their calculations were correct, cooked their burgers, and of course enjoyed the results!
Veterinary medicine requires accurate measurements and calculations every day. This was a simple, hands-on way for students to practice those skills—and definitely more fun than another worksheet!
