Due to projected snow and icy conditions expected this weekend, #BedfordCountySchools will be CLOSED on Monday, 1/26, and Tuesday, 1/27.
A decision about SACP will be made by Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Superintendent of Bedford County Schools Dr. Tammy Garrett explains that this decision gives families time to plan and make other arrangements for their children. While the exact type and amount of precipitation is still uncertain, forecasters are forecasting this to be an extreme weather event with dangerously cold temperatures on Monday and Tuesday, which could make travel unsafe. The safety of our #students, staff and families remains our top priority.
Please use this time to #StayWarm, #StaySafe and enjoy the extra days to rest and recharge. ☕🧣
Continue to monitor our website and social media channels for any additional updates or information, and be on the lookout for a special video this weekend! 🎥❄️

We’re partnering with #Soles4Souls to host a district-wide shoe drive!
From January 20 – February 28, we’ll be collecting NEW and GENTLY USED shoes to support people around the world. These shoes will support the Soles4Souls’ 4OPPORTUNITY program, which helps people in countries like Haiti, Honduras and parts of Africa create small businesses selling shoes and clothing to earn a living.
We are excited to partner with Soles4Souls, who has generously donated new, brand-name athletic shoes through their 4EVERYKID program, helping #BedfordCountySchools McKinney-Vento students.
📍Shoe collection bins are in each of our schools and at the Central Office.
Let’s give back—one step at a time! 💙

There will be no school today in honor of Dr. King’s legacy.
“The time is always right to do what is right.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Let’s use today to reflect, learn, and continue working toward justice and equality. 💙

🤝 No School Monday in Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 🌟
We encourage our school community to take this day to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose message of hope, equality and courage continues to inspire us. 💙
Let’s honor his dream through kindness, learning and acts of service, both in our schools and beyond. Together, we can continue building a more just and compassionate community. ❤️🤝

❤️Student Spotlight: Saving Lives & Making a Difference ❤️
#BedfordCountySchools is incredibly proud of Kaegan Young, a senior from #CascadeHighSchool, who turned compassion into action — and helped save lives in the process!
As part of the American Red Cross Leaders Save Lives program, Kaegan hosted a community blood drive on June 19, 2025, collecting an amazing 158 blood donations from 131 donors, including 54 first-time donors. Because of her leadership and dedication, she earned a $2,500 scholarship and a gift card — well deserved!
This blood drive was especially meaningful. Kaegan organized it in honor of her younger sister, Kaemey, who is currently battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
The scholarship was presented by representatives from the American Red Cross, including Ron Simmons, District Manager for Tennessee; Brandie Spradley, Booking Manager; and Gene Baker, Account Manager, who joined Kaegan and her parents in recognizing her extraordinary service and leadership.
We are #BedfordProud to celebrate #students who lead with heart, serve their communities and make a difference beyond the classroom. #Congratulations, Kaegan!🫶❤️

We are excited to partner with Soles4Souls for a district-wide shoe drive running from January 20 – February 28, and Cascade High School is all in!
There will be a shoe collection bin at Cascade High School, along with bins at each school across the district and at Central Office. Bins will be delivered starting January 15.
We are collecting new or gently used shoes, and every donation helps make a difference. Through this partnership, Soles4Souls provides new shoes to BCS students, including McKinney-Vento students and others in need, helping remove barriers so our students can focus on learning and growing.
This is a wonderful way for our Cascade Champions community to give back and support students across Bedford County. Thank you for helping us make a positive impact — one pair of shoes at a time! 🧡🖤
